Sermon Series

The following videos are services from a 5 part series of Put First Things First.  The topic covers placing God first and that starts with prayer.  Individual sermons are titled the priority of prayer, the purpose of prayer, the power of prayer, and the place of prayer.

The Priority of Prayer

The Purpose of Prayer

Devote yourself to pray to the Lord and seek Him first.  Become a house of prayer and a beacon of light to all nations.

The purpose of prayer is not to perfect it, but to allow it to perfect you.  As we fellowship with God daily we will be transformed from glory to glory.  We have unrestrained access to God through prayer.

The Power of Prayer (Part 2)

God blesses us, God blesses the Sabbath, and God blesses the place he resides.  There will come a day when all our needs will be met.  Let us come together and pray.

The Power of Prayer (Part 1)

Pray in all facets of your life if you want to receive the latter rain, want change in your life, and want to see mighty movement in your life and the world.

The Place of Prayer

No matter how busy we are, God wants your time.  Find a quiet place, to have one on one to meet Jesus, and give our hearts to him.

Put First Things First

Matthew 6:33 is a well-known and often-quoted verse in the Bible, which says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” This verse is a powerful reminder to put God first in our lives, and to seek His kingdom and righteousness above all else. One of the ways we can do this is by starting each day with prayer.

Prayer is a powerful tool that we can use to connect with God and seek His guidance and direction for our lives. When we pray, we are acknowledging our dependence on God and inviting Him to be a part of our daily lives. By starting each day with prayer, we are putting God first and seeking His will for our lives, which is a key part of seeking His kingdom and righteousness.

In this article, we will explore the importance of putting God first by starting with prayer, and how this can transform our lives and our relationship with God.

Why Start with Prayer?

Starting each day with prayer is a simple but powerful way to put God first in our lives. When we wake up in the morning, we often have a long to-do list and a busy schedule ahead of us. It can be easy to get caught up in our own plans and forget about God’s plan for our lives. However, by starting with prayer, we are intentionally putting God first and inviting Him to guide us through our day.

Prayer also helps us to set the right tone for the day. When we begin our day with prayer, we are starting off on a positive note and inviting God to be a part of our day. This can help us to stay focused on our goals, make better decisions, and stay grounded in our faith throughout the day.

In addition, prayer is a way to seek God’s guidance and direction for our lives. We all face challenges and decisions on a daily basis, and it can be difficult to know what the right course of action is. However, when we pray, we are inviting God to be a part of our decision-making process and seeking His guidance and wisdom. This can help us to make better decisions, avoid mistakes, and stay on the path that God has for us.

How to Start with Prayer

Starting each day with prayer doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. It can be as simple as taking a few minutes each morning to pray and connect with God. Here are some tips for starting with prayer:

  1. Find a quiet place. Choose a quiet spot where you can pray without distractions. This could be a corner of your room, a quiet park, or a peaceful spot in your backyard.

  2. Set aside time. Choose a time each day to pray, and make it a regular habit. This could be first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, or before you go to bed.

  3. Focus on God. When you pray, focus on God and His presence. Don’t worry about your to-do list or other distractions. Simply focus on God and seek His guidance and direction.

  4. Be open to God’s voice. When you pray, be open to God’s voice and guidance. He may speak to you through His Word, through other people, or through your own thoughts and feelings. Be open and willing to listen to what He has to say.

Putting God First in All Areas of Life

Starting with prayer is just one way to put God first in our lives. However, we are called to put God first in all areas of our lives, including our relationships, our work, our finances, and our time. When we seek God first and make Him the center of our lives, we are more likely to experience His blessings and guidance in all areas of our lives.
